Was having a lot of fun playing, and someone shouted from across the street, "stop that flute!" :(

Anyhow, I'd played enough tonight. Did my lesson 7, two pages in the method book, and half of that Schumann piece. Making a lot of progress. Even S told me so. He was quite impressed. I tried to convince him to play. He made some sounds with my flute. :)

Today the high notes (E, F, G, A) are still branchy, unless I make really small opening with my mouth, but then the sound will be too loud (and neighbors will complain). But moving from one note to another is much moore smooth than yesterday.

One listens with greater pleasure to a song accompanied by the flute than to one accompanied by the lyre, for the sound of the human voice and that of the flute blend well on account of their affinity and similarity, since both are imbued with breath, whereas the sound of the lyre is produced quiate differently; thus it does not accord so well with the voice, troubles our senses, and moves them less. (Aristotle: Problemataxix, 43)
